Located on the fourth floor of a XVII century building protected by the Ministry of Fine Arts, in the heart of Sottoripa arcades (ancient Ripa Maris), you will find our Bed & Breakfast “Le finestre sul porto antico” (Cod. CITR 010025-BEB-0041) (“Windows on the ancient port” in Italian), which, as the name goes, overlooks the Ancient Port and Piazza Caricamento, with a breathtaking view over the whole port of Genoa.
The guesthouse, reachable by elevator and provided with its own separate entrance, consists in two meticulously furnished double bedrooms, each having its own bathroom, air conditioning and free WiFi connection. The two rooms share a common breakfast area, which is connected by stairs to the rest of the apartment below.
In Piazza Caricamento you will find the bus termini and the “San Giorgio” metro station, providing a connection to the train stations and to the maritime station. Moreover, you will find a taxi stand, the “Navebus” dock (maritime bus service) and several paid parking lots.
Just behind the building, the famous Historic Center begins, with its “caruggi” (typical Genoese alleys) and its historical palaces; right in front of the guesthouse you will find the ticket offices for the Aquarium of Genoa and the ferry docks for Camogli, Portofino and Cinque Terre; at less than a five minutes walking distance you can reach the Maritime Museum, the Cathedral of San Lorenzo, Palazzo Ducale (the Doge’s Palace) and the Strada Nuova Museums in Via Garibaldi, as well as all the other wonders of the city.
Moreover, a short walk will bring you to many restaurants, trattorias (familiar and rustic Italian restaurants, including the famous Genoese “sciamaddas”) and all the Genoese nightlife.
When you arrive you will be be greeted with “ùn gotto de giànco e ùn tòcco de fûgassa zenéize” (Genoese for “a glass of white wine and a piece of Genoese focaccia”, focaccia being a sort of typical Italian pizza bread) to get you immediately into the spirit of the city.
Maurizio and Elisabetta, besides serving breakfast and cleaning daily the guesthouse, will be happy to give you all the information you want about the city, the most typical tours, the nightlife and all the events happening in Genoa.
Pets are welcome, especially by our dear doggy Zazzà.
